Some Need to be Shocked into the Kingdom

This testimony by a Chick customer proves that "God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap." (Galatians 6:7)

I would like to share with you what happened when I gave one of your Chick books to a guy I worked with. I worked in South Africa with a 45-year-old man. One day all the employees were together having lunch. This man was telling us that he had three farms and that he was going to retire at the end of that year. Altogether we were ten people having lunch that day. I had witnessed to all of them over a long period of time. This day at the lunch table, after this man told us of all his future plans, I handed him the Chick tract, This Was Your Life.

He sat there reading the booklet and when he was finished he threw it on the table cursing. He said that this was not the place for church stuff and that he goes to church every week and this was not the place for this kind of reading material. He was very upset and cursed me in front of all the other guys. Then I asked him if he could guarantee that he would see the sun come up the following morning since he had told us that he was going to retire at the end of that year. I told him that Jesus loved him and that He died on the cross for his sins and he told me that he was a good man and that was all that God expected of him.

Well, that Thursday afternoon he left work early for some reason and we all carried on with our work. The next morning as I walked into our factory I sensed that something was wrong. I asked the first guy I came in contact with what was wrong? This is what happened. That Thursday night the man that I gave the Chick booklet to went to bed with his wife as usual. Friday morning his wife woke up and bumped her husband in the ribs to wake up and go to work. He was stone cold dead in bed. I shouted, "OH GOD, what has happened —did I kill this man?" Was I responsible for his death? That day eight of my fellow workers fell on their knees and cried to God to save them. Some of them were crawling on hands and knees begging God`s forgiveness. I just stood there and watched Jesus change these people`s lives right in front of me. It took me a long time to understand, but looking at the lives of these friends, I know that God`s ways are not our ways.

This happened about twenty years ago. Since then my family and I have moved to Canada and yesterday I found one of your Chick booklets and remembered what happened long ago.
