A New Year's Message From Jack T. Chick Sometimes during our lives we meet someone who says something to us that makes an impact so strong that we never forget it. It happened to me when I was about 28 years old. The Lord had put me into an aerospace company and there were about three thousand people working there. I made friends with a young man who had spiritual insight. When we talked, it was always about the Lord. We sat under a huge water tower just before work watching all the people going into their buildings. He said to me, "Jack, we really don't believe the Bible like we should, because if we did, we would be out there on our knees begging these men and women to turn to Christ and warning them about the horrors of hell." What he said that morning impacted my life. I was so frustrated, angry with myself for my cowardice because I didn't have the courage to do what he said. I knew that to do such a thing, you'd be put away as a nut case. But it's still true that all around us every day we meet people heading for that horrible pit. Satan has a way of shutting or switching our minds, yet I can't give him all the credit. When I read the scriptures each morning, I feel like I've had a spiritual shower...And it's such a delight I want to read more. As soon as I shut the book it's like I've closed the door and the problems of the day begin —traffic, news, work. No one talks about the Lord in most companies and we don't even think about our neighbors or fellow workers going to hell. It's like spiritual blindness on our part. Sometimes it isn't possible to bring up the Lord in our conversations. So, it was for all these reasons, God directed me into writing tracts. Chick Publications came into existence because of my shyness to witness. I wish I were really bold, but in spite of me, God has given us this work to put Chick tracts into your hands to pass on to others. The only sanity during the day is when we put our noses into the Word of God to give us peace and boldness. Beloved, our tracts do open eyes and people get saved reading them. So for the sake of those untold millions heading towards the pit, ask God to give you the courage to hand them a tract, or leave it for them to pick up. Jesus told us to preach the gospel. I thank God someone shared the gospel with me.
