Lives Changed One Tract at a Time: Street Evangelism in Action

Names changed for security reasons.

On a hot Saturday evening in late June, Kristina headed to Kingston for her daily outreach, little knowing the lives she would touch that day. Equipped with a stack of Chick gospel tracts from the Chick mission fund, she prayed for God to guide her to those He had prepared.

A Step Toward Faith

Her prayers were answered in the form of Brett, a young English man sitting alone by the riverside. In just over two hours, Kristina walked him through the gospel, using the tracts as a clear, visual way to communicate God’s love.

Brett, who had a complicated family background and had wandered through life without consistent faith, listened intently. Tears filled his eyes as he grappled with the truth of sin, forgiveness, and God’s grace.

Although Brett hesitated to immediately accept Christ, Kristina encouraged him with patience and clarity: salvation isn’t about being worthy, it’s about God’s love made real in Jesus. She gave him a New Testament Bible, audio resources, and a personal invitation to a local church, ensuring he had the tools to continue exploring faith on his own.

A Surprise Twist

On another day, Brett introduced Kristina to Abdul, a young Muslim boy from Turkey. In an impromptu riverside conversation, Abdul shared his questions about Islam, Judaism, and Christianity — and his growing curiosity about Jesus as the true Savior. Kristina engaged him with wisdom, answering his questions and gently pointing him to the gospel. By the end of the evening, Abdul thanked her for her teaching, already showing signs of spiritual interest that could one day bear fruit.

After Abdul left, Kristina spent another 30 minutes with Brett. During this follow-up conversation, Brett opened up about his life with a stepfather and stepbrothers, admitting that he had been living in a chaotic environment and struggling with past mistakes. He shared that he had begun reading the Chick tracts Kristina had given him and felt they were helping him understand the gospel clearly.

Most importantly, he expressed a genuine desire to accept Jesus as his Savior and shared that he wants to begin reading the Bible. His openness and progress highlighted how ongoing, patient engagement can turn curiosity and interest into concrete steps toward faith.

Small Tools, Big Impact

These encounters illustrate the power of Chick tracts — small, simple booklets that communicate the gospel in a way that is both accessible and memorable. For Kristina, they are conversation starters, tools for discipleship, and bridges to hearts that might otherwise never hear the message of Christ.

In a world where many young people like Brett and Abdul grow up far from the church and spiritual guidance, Kristina’s work demonstrates the profound impact of faithful, patient outreach. Every tract handed out, every conversation held, and every prayer spoken in faith is part of a chain reaction that changes lives. Through persistence, prayer, and the strategic use of tools like Chick tracts, ordinary believers can have extraordinary impact.

Returning the Gospel to England

Kristina is part of Cross Mission, a group of Koreans who have returned to England to share the gospel. English-language missions were so effective in South Korea over the past century that now these missionaries are bringing the message back to the England that once gave the world the Bible — a nation that has largely lost its way spiritually. The Chick mission fund partners with Cross Mission and provides tracts for its missionaries like Kristina.
