Reclaiming the Moral Compass

Texas is making headlines — and history. With Senate Bill 10 signed into law by Governor Greg Abbott, public schools will now be required to post a framed copy of the Ten Commandments in every classroom. Louisiana has already paved the way. Arkansas, Oklahoma, and South Carolina are lining up to follow suit. But it's not without a fight...

A few readers found the ending of our tract a bit unclear,

so we’ve made a small revision to clarify the message.

“I send printed sermons and various books and materials to women in prison.  With the sermon, I always include a Chick tract.  The ladies love them.  If I forget to include a Chick tract with a weekly sermon, I will get an email – “Where’s my comic book?”  I encourage the ladies to pass them around in the prison so that as many women as possible can read them.  One inmate just told me that she forwards all her tracts to her 15 year old daughter.” – (email)

Usage Ideas:

We have been amazed at the support from Chick customers who want to support their missionaries by providing Chick tracts for them.  Already this year, nearly 5 million Chick tracts have gone to the mission field through the Chick Mission Fund.  Just in the last two weeks, we have received so many great reports with pictures that one email can’t hold them all.  We will share a few here, and more in the coming weeks.

Azores (Portugal) – During June, Brian Green, director of Seeds For the Cities, arrived with a team and blanketed these Portuguese islands with Chick tracts.  During the 21 day campaign, they covered six islands with 50,000 Portuguese Chick tracts.  There were:

Brother Green shared on example:  “On the final Sunday morning, a woman who had received a tract contacted us via email.  Though saved, she was married to a lost husband and deeply discouraged.  She rearranged her work shift and drove 45 minutes to attend the service where the message was “Ye must be born again.”  That morning, her husband was gloriously saved and left the church a new creature in Christ.  This moment was a powerful affirmation of the reach and spiritual effectiveness of Chick tracts.”

India – Missionary Lordson Roch in Goa, India reported that the new printing of 40,000 Chick tracts in Hindi and English just arrived.  He sent us this photo of a precious family who recently trusted Christ, followed the Lord in water baptism, and is now faithfully attending their church.  He goes on to report “We have countless testimonies of individuals and families who have come to Christ after reading these Chick tracts — lives changed, hearts transformed, and souls saved. Many have followed the Lord in baptism and have been added to our church.”

Philippines – The Chick tracts from the most recent container to the Philippines are spreading through the country, making an impact!  Here is just a small sampling of the many pictures we have received from this great outreach.

Israel – We have just ordered printing of 55,000 dual-language Chick tracts in Israel.  Importing them from the U.S.A. can be difficult, so we have arranged printing there.  The printer we work with does excellent work.  This edition of “The Royal Affair” has Hebrew on the top, and English on the bottom.  Many Israelis came to Israel from other countries, and are working to improve their Hebrew, but they often know the world-language English.  They read the Gospel message in English and see the Hebrew above it.  This is a great way to witness to them while they improve their Hebrew! Remember, Hebrew is read right-to-left.

Greece – The summer outreach for Impossible Greece is underway, with 50,000 Chick tracts and an amazing group of young people traveling to 50 cities in Greece.  They are preaching in markets, passing out Chick tracts, and doing one-on-one evangelism.  Thank you for supplying these teams with those 50,000 Chick tracts.  We are planning more.

Latvia – You provided 10,000 Latvian Chick tracts and another believer provided Czech tracts for Missionary Josh McBryar of TBMI Missions.  He just sent us this report:

“We visited four cities in Czech Republic and Latvia. We gave out thousands of tracts, met a few national pastors and preachers and learned of the great needs there. Although eastern Europe is politically free now, the roots of communism are very deep. Many people are truly UNREACHED with the truth. Although now having freedom of religion, most of the parents raised under communism still train their children to be atheists or cultural Lutherans and Catholics. Many are cold and hard and trust in evolution. These precious souls need JESUS! A native pastor from Czech told us that he had never heard the gospel in his life until he went to the Philippines. He also said of a neighboring country that he has never heard of a gospel witness there.”

Mexico – As of this writing, we have another 500,000 Spanish Chick tracts all printed for the next shipment to Oaxaca, Mexico (with more coming).  The full request was for 2.4 million, and this second shipment will be 700,000.  Thanks to your faithful giving, we expect to complete the entire 2.4 million by fall.  Not only are these going into the Mexican states of Oaxaca, Chiapas, and Vera Cruz, but also to supply prison and kids’ ministries in Guatemala.

The Hendrigsmans, veteran missionaries to Mexico, have an entire network of churches waiting to pass out these tracts, and will go village by village in the Sierra Madre Sur mountains of Oaxaca, where they will conduct medical outreaches also giving out Chick tracts.

Dominican Republic – All 400,000 Spanish Chick tracts for the container going to the Dominican Republic have been printed and boxed.  At this time, we are strapping them onto pallets to prepare them for shipping.  A missions minded church in Tennessee has offered to pay to ship the entire container for this missionary, so there will be no shipping cost to the Mission Fund.
