They Couldn't Leave Bad-Enough Alone!

Hi friends,

While updating my book Look What’s Missing, I reviewed the 2011 NIV—the 4th edition of the New International Version. I had one question:

What did they change this time? 🧐

What I found truly shocked me.

The NIV Used to Get This One Right

Let’s talk about John 7:8—a key verse I covered in my earlier video, Did Jesus Lie?

John 7:8 (KJV):
"Go ye up unto this feast: I go not yet up unto this feast; for my time is not yet full come."

That little word—"yet"—is crucial. Without it, the meaning of Jesus’ statement completely changes.

🤥 Did Jesus Lie?

The Bible says Jesus eventually did go to the feast:

John 7:10:
“...then went he also up unto the feast, not openly, but as it were in secret.”

So if He said He was not going—and then did go—it would make Him a liar.
And if Jesus lied, He couldn’t be the sinless Savior.

And if that’s true?
We’re still in our sins, without redemption or hope. 😔🔥

The 2011 NIV: Changing the Game

Here’s how the 2011 NIV (the "new-new-new-new" edition) now reads:

John 7:8 (2011 NIV):
“You go to the festival. I am not going up to this festival, because my time has not yet fully come.”

No "yet."
Just “I am not going.”

But two verses later...

John 7:10 (same NIV):
“However, after his brothers had left for the festival, he went also, not publicly, but in secret.”

💥 That makes Jesus look like He said one thing—and did another. That’s no small issue.

🧪 Other Bibles That Make the Same Change

It’s not just the NIV. The same removal of “yet” happens in:

  • ESV
  • NASB
  • New Living Translation
  • New Revised Standard
  • New Jerusalem Bible
  • Good News Translation
  • Common English Bible
  • …and many others.

Are these the Bibles we want to give to our friends? Or to people seeking truth

🤔 What Will Unbelievers Think?

Imagine someone honestly searching for answers, reading these modern versions.

They’ll see clear contradictions, and they’ll walk away thinking:

“Christians believe in a changed, unreliable book.”

Can you blame them?

Even my son, when challenged by Muslims on the street, responds:

“You’re right. The Bible has been changed—those Bibles have.
That’s why I use the King James Version: God’s preserved words in English.”

Why the King James Bible Still Stands

📖 The King James Bible didn’t remove “yet” from John 7:8.
It didn’t tweak a word and turn Jesus into a liar.

It has:

  • Nothing added
  • Nothing removed
  • Nothing changed

It is God’s preserved Word in English.

📌 Get It. Read It. Believe It.

Don’t settle for edited truth.
Get the Bible God actually preserved.

✅ Use it
✅ Share it
✅ Obey it

The world needs truth—not confusion.

"Amazing Comparison!"

"This is an excellent side by side comparison between the NIV and KJV Bibles. The missing scriptures are listed in bold so it is easy to read. I had my NIV & KJV out as I read this book to make sure what I was reading was true and I was amazed! If you have an NIV, you owe it to yourself to read this book and find out for yourself."
