Will You Trust Faith or Footnotes?

Hi friend 👋

The most momentous event in all history wasn’t an empire rising or a war being won.
It was this:

The Creator of the universe willingly gave Himself to be murdered by men — and while they were doing it, He forgave them. 😔

“Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do.” —Luke 23:34

It's the first thing Jesus said from the cross.
And it's unlike anything any man-made religion ever dreamed of.
It’s the heart of the gospel: forgiveness, even in the face of cruelty.

But what if I told you that some Bibles today question whether Jesus really said that?

⚠️ “Maybe You Should Take It Out”?

Believe it or not, many modern Bibles — and even some “King James” study Bibles — put a footnote next to Luke 23:34 saying:

“NU brackets the first sentence as a later addition.”

Let that sink in. A moment that has brought countless people to tears, convicted hearts, and revealed God's mercy — is quietly bracketed and called into question. Just like the serpent in Eden:

“Yea, hath God said...?” —Genesis 3:1

Sound familiar? 😮
That’s not just poor scholarship. It’s an attack on faith.

🕵️ Who’s Behind This? And Why?

It turns out these aren’t just innocent “clarifications.”

🧠 Most of these footnotes come from the same critical Greek texts — Nestle-Aland, UBS, Westcott & Hort — and they all carry the same agenda: to cast doubt on the King James Bible and the Textus Receptus it came from.

And believe it or not, even some so-called King James Bibles carry these kinds of notes — including:

  • The New King James Version (NKJV)
  • The King James Study Bible (Thomas Nelson, 2013)
  • Other “updated” KJVs with “study helps”

These Bibles contain the same Bible-doubting notes you’ll find in the NIV, ESV, NASB, NLT, and others.

Why would publishers sell King James Bibles to King James readers — then insert notes that undermine the King James text?

Simple answer: 💰 Money.

💼 Trojan Horse Bibles

Most major Bible publishers (Zondervan, Thomas Nelson, HarperOne) are owned by secular corporations like HarperCollins, part of Rupert Murdoch’s News Corporation.

They make money off dozens of Bible versions. But they know:

✨ Most people who actually read their Bible… read the King James.

So how do they sell you other versions?
By selling you a Trojan Horse KJV — the text you trust, with footnotes that quietly chip away at your faith.

“Luke 23:34 might not be original…”
“Mark 16:9-20 is uncertain…”
“1 John 5:7-8 came from the Latin…”
“He emptied Himself (Phil 2:7)…”
“Abstain from every form of evil…” instead of “appearance” (1 Thess. 5:22)

These aren’t innocent “study notes.” They’re seeds of doubt.
And faith cannot grow in the soil of doubt.

💔 Why Question Forgiveness?

Let’s go back to Luke 23:34.

Jesus forgave the very people who were mocking Him while murdering Him.
This includes Romans, Jews, and you and me.
That verse embodies the heart of the gospel.

So why question it?

Because some people don’t like that message. Some don’t like the idea that Jesus forgave the Jews. Others simply don’t believe in divine forgiveness at all.

And others — like false prophets (Joseph Smith, for example) — try to rewrite Scripture to fit their own agenda. Smith even added a fake parenthetical phrase in his “Inspired Version” to twist the meaning.

✅ Don’t Settle for “Yea, Hath God Said?” Footnotes

When publishers don’t believe the Bible is preserved, they write footnotes to reflect that.

But if you do believe God preserved His words, then those notes aren’t study helps — they’re stumbling blocks.

🛡️ Trust God’s preserved words. Not man’s opinions.

📖 “The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.
Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.” —Psalm 12:6-7

🙌 What Should You Do?

Here’s what I recommend:

Use a King James Bible without doubting footnotes
✅ Be cautious of “study” editions written by scholars who don’t believe the Book
✅ Believe what God said — every word of it
✅ Avoid Bibles that question, correct, or weaken Scripture

Don't let a publisher’s footnote undermine your confidence in God’s Word.
Reject the Trojan Horse.

Stand on the pure, preserved words of God in the King James Bible.

Testimony

"A must-have for all KJB readers."

"His presentation regarding how modern versions have been sold and what they actually are all about was unique in such a small book. It took me DECADES to realize that this was indeed a battle between God and Satan, and we as followers of Christ Jesus MUST take a stand."
