The Oldest Trick in the Book

Hi Friend, đź‘‹

📌 Last time…

I shared how Tischendorf found Vaticanus & Sinaiticus — likely a setup by Rome.

These texts shaped Westcott & Hort’s Greek Text. Rome’s goal? Confuse readers with Alexandrian Bibles + Apocrypha and weaken the King James Bible, paving the way for a one-world Bible.

That brought you up to the 1800s. Now we'll look at:

🚨 My 1800s–1900s Bible Theory

After JL Hug’s book claimed Codex Vaticanus was the oldest and best, paleographers went all-in. Vaticanus became the “prize,” and anyone who wanted a look had to stay on Rome’s good side. No criticism of the pope, no preaching against Rome — you had to play nice.

📜 Enter Constantin Tischendorf

  • He was an ambitious scholar, eager for fame, money, and position.
  • Worked on Ephraemi Rescriptus, gained recognition, then asked Catholic leaders to let him see Vaticanus.
  • He may have even learned from Jesuit Cardinal Mai’s unpublished notes.

⚡ The Sinaiticus "Miracle"

  • 1844: The Sinaiticus suddenly appears in a monastery — no provenance, no chain of custody.
  • Likely “made-to-order” for Tischendorf to find.
  • It was rushed, mistakes included — copied from multiple sources, some shortcuts.
  • Constantine Simonides may have been a forger involved in the rush job.

📖 Tischendorf’s Role

  • Initially may not have realized he was being duped.
  • Removed portions of the text, created Codex Friderico Augustanus (CFA).
  • Rome rewarded him; Sinaiticus was hailed as “oldest and best.”

🏛️ Westcott & Hort: 1853-1881

  • Used Sinaiticus and Vaticanus to build the “Critical Greek Text.”
  • Foundation for the Revised Version and modern critical Bibles.

⛪ Rome’s Goal

  • Push Alexandrian texts (with Apocrypha).
  • Create confusion, forcing reliance on priests/scholars.
  • Set stage for one-world Bible → one-world religion.
  • Undermine the King James Bible, the only fully preserved English text.

đź’ˇ The Big Picture: Modern Day

  • Conspiracy between Catholic authorities and text critics complete.
  • Target: Make people doubt God’s preserved words and trust man-made texts instead.
  • Result: The rise of contradictory, confusing Bibles and dependence on "scholarship" and "authority."

Pop Quiz!

  1. What did JL Hug’s book claim about Codex Vaticanus that influenced scholars?
  2. Why did Rome restrict access to Vaticanus?
  3. Why is the discovery of Codex Sinaiticus considered suspicious?
  4. How did Westcott and Hort use Sinaiticus and Vaticanus between 1853 and 1881?
  5. What is the modern result of this long-running conspiracy?
A book titled Just One Bible? by David W. Daniels

This is NOT a King James Bible!

It promised to be a 5th edition of the KJV, preserving "the originally intended meaning of every verse." But that's not what happened.

"Incredibly Important Topic"

"David clearly shows that NKJV is not simply an updated "easier to read" version of the KJV. For those of you that are already aware of the changes to God's word, I still highly recommend picking up a copy. Although I've been aware of these changes for about 17 years I'm always looking to learn more. Much to be gained from the time and effort David has put into this incredibly important topic. So, take advantage of it."

Here are the answers!

  1. They involve people rebelling against God’s authority, twisting His truth for power and gain.
  2.  To remove God’s preserved Word, replace it with confusing modern versions, and pave the way for a one-world Bible and religion.
  3. Pagan-influenced Jews and philosophers mixed false stories into the Old Testament, creating the Septuagint.
  4. Erasmus published the preserved Greek text, and the KJV translators refined it into an accurate English Bible guided by God’s providence.
  5.  He used so-called scholarship and manuscript dating to promote corrupted Alexandrian texts and draw Protestants away from the KJV.
