Roosevelt's Fatal Mistake

By February 1945, it was apparent that the defeat of Nazi Germany was near. The three great powers—America, Great Britian, and the Soviet Union—met in Yalta to discuss plans for post-war Germany.

On his way home, President Franklin Roosevelt met with King Ibn Saud of Saudi Arabia on February 14. The main focus of this meeting, and what attracted public attention, was the agreement that gave the U.S. favored oil rights in exchange for American protection of the Saudi kingdom.

What did not attract public attention was the discussion between President Roosevelt and King Saud about the move to create a Jewish state in Palestine. The president gave assurances to the king that the U.S. would not support a Jewish state without the approval of the Arabs, which all but guaranteed that the new country would never be formed.

There was growing support within the United States and other countries for the creation of a Jewish state in Palestine. King Saud was aware of this and pressured President Roosevelt not to support such an arrangement. It is apparent, in hindsight, that Roosevelt traded away American support for a Jewish state in exchange for favored access to Arab oil. For many years, God had been using America to fulfill His prophetic word about Israel, but, with this agreement, President Roosevelt was blocking God's way.

Soon afterward, King Saud became concerned that the president was changing his mind and sent him a letter, dated March 10, 1945, in which he articulated what had been agreed to at the February 14 meeting. This letter demonized Zionism and put forth the idea that the Jews had no right to any land in Palestine.

The king's letter said, in part,

[The Jews] are preparing to create a form of Nazi-fascism within the sight and hearing of the democracies and in the midst of the Arab countries...

We state frankly and plainly that to help Zionism in Palestine not only means to endanger Palestine, but all neighboring countries...

We declare that the actions of the Zionists inside and outside Palestine are based on a programme agreed upon by world Jewry.

What we and the Arab countries fear from the Zionists are:

1. That they will carry out a series of massacres as between themselves and the Arabs...

3. That the ambitions of the Jews are not confined to Palestine alone. The preparations they have made show that they intend to take hostile action against neighboring Arab countries. 10

President Roosevelt responded with his own letter, assuring the king that the American position had not changed and that America would not recognize a Jewish state. The letter, dated April 5, 1945, follows:

I have received the communication which Your Majesty sent me under date of March 10, 1945, in which you refer to the question of Palestine...

I am gratified that Your Majesty took this occasion to bring your views on this question to my attention and I have given the most careful attention to the statements which you make in your letter. I am also mindful of the memorable conversation which we had not so long ago and in the course of which I had an opportunity to obtain so vivid an impression of Your Majesty's sentiments on this question.

Your Majesty will recall that on previous occasions I communicated to you the attitude of the American Government toward Palestine and made clear our desire that no decision be taken with respect to the basic situation in that country without full consultation with both Arabs and Jews. Your Majesty will also doubtless recall that during our recent conversation I assured you that I would take no action, in my capacity as Chief of the Executive Branch of this Government, which might prove hostile to the Arab people.

It gives me pleasure to renew to Your Majesty the assurances which you have previously received regarding the attitude of my Government and my own, as Chief Executive, with regard to the question of Palestine and to inform you that the policy of this Government in this respect is unchanged.11

In his response, the president let the lies and vicious attacks against the Jews go unchallenged, and he even seemed in agreement with them! President Roosevelt put the United States in league with the king of Saudi Arabia and in direct opposition to God's plan for Israel. In doing so, he radically changed how America had been working within God's plan.

On April 12, 1945, exactly one week after writing this letter, President Roosevelt died. The man who had personally blocked the rebirth of Israel was replaced by Harry Truman, a true Zionist in his support for a new state of Israel. The roadblock was removed and the road was open for America to recognize Israeli statehood. The timing of these events was breathtaking, as God was not going to let anyone hinder the rebirth of Israel. The time for Israeli statehood had arrived.

America on a Collision Course with God

The Bible lists all of God’s warnings, which He verifies with awesome disasters that have hit America on the very days the nation pressured Israel to divide the covenant land. For example, every time Yasser Arafat came to America an awesome disaster occurred. At some point, the warning judgments cross over to destruction judgments. The destruction judgments will break the nation and stop the interference with God’s plan for Israel. There is no recovery from destruction judgments. It appears that Hurricane Katrina was the first destruction judgment.

God takes His covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob very seriously. The judgments begin after a nation hardens its heart against His word. It appears that the rebellion and unbelief in God’s word has now taken America to the brink of wrath judgments. God has warned and warned, but are people making the connection?

The following is a partial list of the warning judgments that have hit America. These events all happened on the very days the nation pressured Israel to divide the land. God loves America, and He is trying to warn the nation of this collision course. God is very serious about not dividing Israel and Jerusalem. He will not allow any nation to thwart His prophetic plan.

I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land.
(Joel 3:2, emphasis added)

October 1991

After the Gulf War ended in 1991 , President George H. W. Bush began the initiative to start a Middle East Peace plan involving Israel, the Palestinians, and the countries surrounding Israel.3 On October 30, 1991, President Bush opened the talks with a speech, in which he said, “Territorial compromise is essential for peace” (photograph on top of next page).

From the very start of the Madrid Peace Process, the President made it very clear that Israel was required to surrender parts of the covenant land for peace.4 This surrender was the foundation of this peace process. The following excerpt of the President’s speech shows this:

Throughout the Middle East, we seek a stable and enduring settlement. We’ve not defined what this means. Indeed, I make these points with no map showing where the final borders are to be drawn. Nevertheless we believe territorial compromise is essential for peace.

In their opening speeches, delegates from Egypt, Syria, and Palestine said that Israel must surrender land for peace. The Egyptian Foreign Minister, Amr Moussa, summarized the Arab position regarding the land of Israel. Jerusalem became the very heart of this conference. An excerpt of Moussa’s speech follows:

Secondly, the West Bank, Gaza and the Golan Heights are occupied territories.

Thirdly, settlements established in territories occupied since 67, including Jerusalem are illegal, and more settlements will foreclose potential progress toward real peace and cast doubts on the credibility of the process itself.

Fourthly, the holy city of Jerusalem has its special status…. The occupying power should not exercise monopoly or illegal sovereignty over the holy city. It should not persist in unilateral decisions declared to annex the holy city as this lacks validity or legitimacy.

On October 30, a powerful storm developed off Nova Scotia, catching the National Weather Bureau completely by surprise. It developed suddenly from unusual weather patterns that typically only occur once each century. The National Weather Service never officially named this storm, but it reached hurricane strength. This storm was extremely rare because it traveled for one thousand miles in a westward direction. The weather pattern for the United States is eastward! Meteorologists called this storm “extra-tropical” because it did not originate in the tropics, as most hurricanes do.5

On October 31, this ferocious storm smashed into New England. It was a monster hundreds of miles wide, described by meteorologists as one of the most powerful ever to occur. It created ocean waves over one hundred feet high, which were among the highest ever recorded. The storm traveled down the East Coast into the Carolinas, creating millions of dollars of damage from Maine to Florida.6

The National Weather Service later nicknamed this hurricane “The Perfect Storm.” Sebastian Junger wrote a best-selling book about this storm that became a motion picture and captured the drama of the ships caught in it. The Perfect Storm was the title of both the book and movie.7

President Bush owns a home along the East Coast in Kennebunkport, Maine, that was heavily damaged by the Perfect Storm.8 Eyewitnesses said that waves as high as thirty feet rose from the ocean and smashed into the President’s seaside home. When the President returned from Madrid, he canceled speaking engagements to inspect the damage done to his house.

This storm hit the President’s home the same day he initiated the Madrid Peace Conference. What awesome timing! An extremely rare and powerful storm developed in the North Atlantic Ocean and went one thousand miles in the wrong direction. The storm then struck the President’s own home on the very day he was opening the Madrid Peace Conference. The President’s land was touched the day he attempted to touch the covenant land of Israel!

The front-page headlines of the newspaper USA Today on November 1 even had the Madrid conference and the Perfect Storm next to each other! The newspaper titled one article, “One-on-one peace talks next.” The article adjacent to it was titled, “East Coast hit hard by rare storm.” At the beginning of a peace plan involving Israel, a rare and powerful storm smashed into the entire East Coast of the United States. On October 30, 1991, the Lord God of Israel put America on alert.
