Border-to-Border Gospel Work

We recently received a testimony from Mike, a customer whose connection to missions began long before his own involvement. His parents once served as missionaries in Yuma, Arizona—laboring in a region where cultures intersect and needs are often both physical and spiritual. Though both have since passed into the presence of the Lord, Mike describes that legacy as something that never left him. It shapes how he sees the work still being done along the border today.

A Network Spanning Nations

Today, two of Mike’s friends lead a ministry network consisting of pastors and volunteers who span multiple regions of the US and into Mexico. Their reach stretches “from Yuma to San Luis, Arizona, and from San Felipe to Morelos, Mexico,” with additional outreach opportunities as far away as Luzon Province in the Philippines.

What stands out is not only the geography, but their method of outreach—carried forward by teams of pastors and lay helpers working together.

Thanks to an extensive network of helpers and supporters, food is distributed to those in need. Clothing and household goods are offered. Educational materials, appliances, vehicles, trailers, and even mobile homes are placed where they are needed most. It is a form of outreach that meets immediate physical needs—without separating them from spiritual needs.

Feeding Stomachs and Souls

The outreach efforts combine humanitarian assistance with evangelism. In short, they “feed the stomachs and then more importantly the souls!”

Gospel literature such as tracts, John & Romans booklets, and Bibles are distributed wherever a need is identified, forming a consistent part of the ministry’s outreach model. This is where Mike comes in.

Mike sends regular shipments of Chick tracts, excited to be part of the work. He is conscious of any restraints that might prohibit his ability to get tracts, books, and Bibles to his friends, so he’s working on getting as many sent while he can. Mike says, “I'm trying to send more because I believe Bibles and tracts will be hard to get.”

He is enthusiastic about sending Chick tracts and KJV/RVG Bibles. In sharing why he sends Chick materials, Mike enthusiastically wrote:

“Chick tracts are great for all ages. Your red letter RVG Bibles with references are the best. Chick Bible version information is very good… Chick tracts & comics have the best art work and context of scripture.”

Send the Light —While There is Time

While we may not all be able to travel the world and head a multi-regional ministry work, we can help those who do! Whether you team up with the Chick Mission Fund to support missionaries on the ground, or send them to people you know who are assisting in the work, each one of us can play a part in making the Gospel widely accessible across borders and cultures.

If you would like to help support a tract-using ministry, but do not personally know a missionary or outreach worker to supply, we have an opportunity for you! Jo Anna Woody leads Mission Possible, a prison ministry which uses Chick tracts to reach inmates across the nation with the Gospel. If you would like to help provide tracts for this outreach, Chick Publications can assist you in adding to Jo Anna’s tract fund. Simply call Chick for more information.
