There Is But a Step Between Me and Death

by Mark Cahill

I ran across this article the other day, and it really got me thinking: foxnews - fitness influencer drowned

What if you are in the top 1% of all of the healthiest people in the world? You take care of your temple. You eat right. You exercise right. You do all the right things. Does that guarantee a long life?

This triathlete died at 38. I read somewhere else that she had the flu. Her coaches and friends were recommending to her that she should not perform in the triathlon that morning.

One of the last posts she put on social media said this:

"Enjoy this ride on the bullet train that is life," she wrote. "And even with the speed of the machine blurring the landscape, look out the window — for at any moment, the train will drop you off at the eternal station."

Oh my. She was correct. Look out the window and find out who is the God who made this beautiful creation. Did she do that? Did she take the time to find out what happens when she dies with the same fervor that she put into training her physical body?

1 Samuel 20:3 “And David sware moreover, and said ... 'truly as the Lord liveth, and as thy soul liveth, there is but a step between me and death.'”

There is one small step from this life to the next life on the other side, but it is the biggest step one will ever take.

Hebrews 9:27 “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:”

Was Mara ready for Judgment Day? Are you ready for Judgment Day? Are you getting others ready for Judgment Day?

Everyone will take that step to the other side. Believing upon Jesus is all that will matter once someone takes that last breath. If you believe in Him, don’t keep Him to yourself. Give Jesus away to someone today. For all believers that step will be the greatest step we will ever take as we will finally be able to see Him face to face!
