Some days, passing out tracts can feel routine. Nothing happens out of the ordinary. Maybe you even encounter some less-than-interested folks. But other days, when we faithfully show up, God brings someone who’s ready—not just for a tract, but for the truth inside it.

That’s what happened recently to Kevin Jackson, a faithful believer who regularly hands out Chick tracts outside his local courthouse. On what seemed like an ordinary day, God had something extraordinary planned.

Kevin shares, “As I was about to leave, a young man who had just come out of the building stopped me. He said, ‘Can I ask you a question?’ When I said yes, he said, ‘I’ve been coming here on and off for a few months. Every time I am here, I see you here, too. What drives you?’”

It was a divine appointment in the purest sense—an open door from a man who had been watching silently for months. He had noticed consistency. He had noticed faithfulness. And it had stirred something in him.

Kevin responded not with clever arguments or rehearsed lines, but with testimony: someone had once shared the gospel with him, and it had changed everything.

“I told him how someone had told me that God wanted a relationship with me. That I mattered to Him. That God took on flesh in Jesus, walked through this life like we do, and gave Himself for me. I shared how Jesus, in His faithfulness and love, endured the cross so we could receive His righteousness simply by asking for His forgiveness.”

The conversation deepened. The man listened intently, his eyes locked in, not distracted or hurried. When asked if he knew Jesus as Savior, his reply was sincere — “I try to be as attuned to Him as possible.”

Kevin continued, “I explained again our separation from God because of sin, and how Jesus took on our worst so we could receive His best. I reminded him of the prayer on the back of the tract he had seen before. Then I asked, ‘If you would be willing to pray with me and trust Jesus as your Savior, would you allow me the honor of praying with you?’ To my joy, he said yes!”

Right there on the sidewalk, a man passed from death to life. The prayer was simple but heartfelt. When asked if he meant it, he immediately said yes. Tears welled up as the gospel took root.

But it didn’t end there. They talked about how to grow in Christ—through prayer, Bible reading, and fellowship with other believers. Kevin invited the man and his wife to church, and he eagerly responded.

Later, Kevin shared the story with his ministry partner, who had left shortly before the encounter. Excitedly, he told Kevin that he had just prayed the night before that God would give one of them a divine appointment the next day.

“I believe God answered that prayer in abundance,” he said, “by preparing that man’s heart and drawing him back for the good news of the gospel.”

God used Kevin to help a man step from death to life. There was no stage, no spotlight, no crowd. Just someone standing in the same place, faithfully offering tracts with kindness.

Just like the man Kevin talked with, there are people watching you. They are waiting for someone to share the gospel with them. And all it takes is a tract.

So go out. Bring tracts. Ask God for divine appointments—and expect Him to answer.
